Providing a fun, friendly and family-like environment is important to us at the Chichen Itza Language School. We also like to encourage our students to take advantage of their time here in the Mayan Riviera. The Chichen Itza Language School offers free weekly Salsa dancing and Mexican cooking classes as well as opportunities to explore the town of Playa del Carmen, to volunteer and to explore the beautiful surroundings with outdoor adventures.
What would a trip to Mexico be without learning a little (or a lot) of Salsa? Every Friday evening we offer free Salsa lessons to our students. The class begins with the basic Salsa steps and when you’re ready, we teach you turns and more intricate partner dancing. You’re welcome to remain at the level with which you feel most comfortable! You don’t need to bring a partner, just your dancing feet and desire to dance!
Join us for an evening of traditional Mexican home cooking. We teach our students how to make easy and delicious Mexican meals and then enjoy sharing the family-style dinner in our courtyard. Students of all language levels are welcome and we encourage you to practice your Spanish while learning more about your fellow classmates. Our instructors will be present to help practice conversations. We do our best to accommodate food allergies and meal preferences (i.e. vegetarian). Please let us know in advance if you have any food restrictions.

The cenotes in the Mayan Riviera are a must-see. Unique to this region of the world, the cenotes are a treasure trove of exploration for our friends who like snorkeling, swimming and being surrounded by natural beauty.
Diving in Playa del Carmen and Cozumel is one of the main draws of coming to the area. We have several dive shops that we recommend for their excellence in customer service and language abilities. We can connect you with companies that speak English, Spanish, French, and Russian.
